Love Always Shines Everytime: Remember to Smile
I know I’m early since this will be released on March 8th but I just couldn’t help myself. I downloaded Lupe Fiasco’s upcoming album LASERS yesterday and it totally blew my mind. I know I shouldn’t be supporting bootlegs but welcome to 2011, and thanks to FeelPill for the hook up. (If I’m going down, you’re doing down with me! haha)
LASERS stands for “Love Always Shines Everytime: Remember to Smile”. That’s definitely a title to live on. Track after track, this album had me going crazy. The compositions, music productions, collaborations and lyrics, every elements are brought into a brilliant coalition. I had a hard time pointing out my favorite track. It’s worth his 4 years of absence.
Just listenin’ to Pac ain’t gonna make it stop,
A rebel in your thoughts ain’t gonna make it whole,
If you don’t become an actor, you’ll never be a factor,
Pills with a million side effects, take ‘em when the pain’s felt,
Wash ‘em down with diet soda, killin’ off your brain cells,
Crooked banks around the world will gladly give a loan today,
So if you ever miss a payment, they can take your home away.
After The Shows Goes On as his first single of the album, here’s Words I Never Said (video above) as his second, a crazy production by Alex Da Kid (who also produced Love The Way You Lie). I don’t know who initially dug out Skylar Grey in this industry but her voice is like poison. Her chorus is as catchy as in I Need A Doctor. I also love Letting Go (featuring Sarah Green), Out Of My Head (featuring Trey Songz), Beautiful Lasers (2Ways) (featuring MDMA), State Run Radio (featuring Matt Mahaffey), All Black Everything and Never Forget You (featuring John Legend). Pretty much the whole album… hehe!

What I like about Lupe Fiasco, he’s not like those other rappers who try to sell music through money, sex, blings and guns. He’s just a regular guy who grew up in the projects of Chicago, who educated himself through books and The National Geographic, who has great opinions about life and who happens to wisely use his talents to share them. He grew a reputation on himself for being a rap philosopher who states clever and provocative rhymes and inspiring thoughts. And I think that’s how we should all really see him as…
Lupe Fiasco speaks the truth.
